Signs of a hidden leak

A leak you cannot see still shows up. The bill jumps. A closet smells like wet drywall. The meter needle creeps when every fixture is off. In Miami-Dade that is often a slab line or a supply in the wall — not a faucet you can tighten.

Start at the meter. Shut everything off and watch the sweep. If it still moves, water is leaving the house. That is the difference between a drip you can hear and a line you cannot.

We camera and locate before we open a wall. Guessing is how drywall gets cut twice. You get a clear read: city side of the meter, slab, or a finished wall — then a price for the opening we actually need.

$95 to come look. That trip charge is waived if you hire us for the repair. If the floor is wet now, that is an emergency — call (786) 756-3185.

A quick leak test you can do today

Turn off every faucet, the washer, the dishwasher and the ice maker, then look at the water meter. If the small leak indicator or the dial is still moving, water is escaping somewhere. Check toilets first by putting a few drops of food coloring in the tank; if color shows up in the bowl without flushing, the flapper is leaking. If the toilets are fine, the leak may be under the slab, in a wall or in the yard line, and that is when to call us.
